In order to establish a highly scalable digital network infrastructure till the last mile , the IT Department plans to undertake Assam Fibre Network  Project in partnership with the Government of India , telecom companies and cable operators etc. The objective is to provide affordable, non-discriminatory, reliable and end-to-end broadband connectivity of 10 Mbps for all households of the State and 1 to 10 Gbps for all State Government institutions/offices by 2022. Similar to the Andhra Pradesh Model Internet, IPTV and Telephony will be delivered to the citizens.
