  • Overview of CSC Assam

    The CSC is a strategic cornerstone of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), approved by the Government in May 2008, as part of its commitment in the National Common Minimum Programme to introduce e-governance on a massive scale. CSC activity working 2500 centers across Assam and 2206 GP has been covered. 

    The CSCs would provide high quality and cost-effective video, voice and data content and services, in the areas of e-governance, education, health, telemedicine, entertainment as well as other private services. A highlight of the CSCs is that it will offer web-enabled e-governance services in rural areas, including application forms, certificates, and utility payments such as electricity, telephone and water bills. In addition to the universe of G2C services, the CSC Guidelines envisage a wide variety of content and services that could be offered as listed below:

    • Agriculture Services (Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Veterinary)
    • Education & Training Services (School, College, Vocational Education, Employment, etc.)
    • Health Services (Telemedicine, Health Check-ups, Medicines)
    • Rural Banking & Insurance Services (Micro-credit, Loans, Insurance)
    • Entertainment Services (Movies, Television)
    • Utility Services (Bill Payments, Online bookings)
    • Commercial Services (DTP, Printing, Internet Browsing, Village level BPO)

     Successful Story of CSC Assam

    Enthusiasm without direction is like wild fire and leads to frustration but if enthusiasm is accompanied with specific Goals then there is no stopping. Mr. Ratul Saikiaour VLE from CSC Naharkatia, District Dibrugarh started his CSC center with an entrepreneurial mind. He knew that perseverance, Resilience and determination will one day lead him to success. Initially when he started his CSC in the year 2009, he did some offline business and very keen to get G2C services. On the other hand after few months’s he also started delivering other service from CSC B2Cs to the people in his vicinity. He actively got involved in enrolling students for National Digital Literacy (NDLM) courses designed by Govt. of India and also doing some education program. Today Mr. Ratul Saikia CSC center is well known in his area and he is one of the Top performers VLE in DIFFA program in volume of 10,000 beneficiaries and 750 merchant has been trained for the cashless. 

    Mr. Ratul Saikia, he said “I have been transformed into digital eco system of CSC, my work become so simplified in e-governance platform which everything is online; I have started workshop camp, though various media, as on date I have received great success.  I have done 20,000 in e-district services like birth certificate, PRC, SC, OBC, etc. same time I have start Banking Correspondence of Allahabad Bank where I have open 6000 bank account of Tea worker and various tea garden. He is now a successful enterepuner and his income has also grown manifolds 

    Mr. Ratul Saikia has been trained 200 women under the PMKV in the e-samvalika TRI project.
